I was reflecting on Daniel's journey to becoming a Black Belt - how he has changed and continues to grow. We appreciate your time, talent and dedication.
Paul and I wanted to personally thank you all for helping Daniel achieve his goal of earning his Black Belt last night. We started Daniel in Taekwondo when he was 7. He was a child that couldn't always focus, did not have the greatest self confidence, didn't like school and needed to improve his self image.
You have given him confidence. He knows if he tries his best in whatever he does, he can achieve.
You have taught him respect. He knows that even if he doesn't like the answer, it is the answer. We observe this as parents, watching him in class plus the feedback we have received from his school teacher
You have taught him perseverance. He knows that sometimes what he has to do isn't easy or fun but if he continues to try, he will achieve.
You have taught him how to set a goal. We went for ice cream last night and were congratulating Daniel on his accomplishment. His comment was "Yep, I achieved my goal, now it's time to set a new one.". Wow!
You have taught him integrity. Daniel is only 9 and he will still make some interesting choices when it comes to friends and actions. The foundation for knowing right and wrong will continue to play an important role in his life.
Thank you to Chief Master Hoover, Mr. B and all the instructors for your ongoing commitment to Daniel's success. As his parents, we are truly grateful.
